THE FOUNDATIONS OF AN ENTREPRENEUR
Richard started his career in the Royal Navy, serving on-board HMS Invincible at the age of 16 before joining Kent Fire and Rescue Service as an operational firefighter. For the next 17 years he rose through the ranks to Assistant Divisional Officer serving at various fire stations including Maidstone, Gravesend, Folkestone, Dover and Dartford.
FIREFIGHTER TO ENTREPRENEUR
In 2005 Richard decided that he wanted a fresh challenge and a change of direction, and so he founded the ‘How2Become’ series of career guides which were designed to help job seekers gain employment. The guides were so successful that Richard reached the final of the HSBC Bank Start-up Stars Awards. More recently, Richard has been a finalist and/or winner at the National Independent Publishers Guild Awards in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021 after being recognised for his energetic publishing, brilliant ideas and highly proactive marketing. To date, Richard has sold tens of thousands of books and become a multiple Number 1 Best-selling author helping 1000s of people get the career of their dreams!
BECOMING AN INTERNATIONAL CAREER COACH
In 2019, Richard decided to take his coaching international. He did this by setting up an international career coaching website, creating 100s of hours of free content on social platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, and creating career-specific interview guides for 100s of careers.
Richard’s success took the internet by storm. Having published multiple viral TikTok videos amassing over 150 million views, gaining 3 million subscribers on YouTube and helping 1000s of job-seekers worldwide secure their jobs!
